The Run is over!

The run went better than I had thought. Everything was organized and well prepared. I couldn't of done any of this without all the help I received throughout this process. First I would like to thank Claudia Doron! She gave me the initial steps in order to get my project started. She went out of her way and took her time to help me and provide me with the tools I needed. This wouldn't have been possible without you, thank you Claudia! Second I would like to thank Mrs.Bauer for helping me organizing the run. Thank you for helping me keep everything in order and on track! I would like to thank Mrs.Del Curto for keeping all the money safe and all the sponsor sheets organized! I would like to thank all of the teachers who participated and helped out with safety. Thank you to all teachers for also keeping all of your students on track. Thank you for your help! Thank you to all of the volunteer parents who came out today to take photos, hand out water and make sure the kids kept track of their rounds! Thank you to Mrs.Sutcliffe for making this run possible and allowing me to initiate the project! Last but not least, I would like to thank all of the runners who came out: teachers and students. Every single one of you, no matter how many laps you ran, did a great job and participated well. All of your efforts were for a good cause! THANK YOU EVERYONE! THIS RUN WAS NOT POSSIBLE WITHOUT ANY OF YOU!

The Day Before The Run

So far the days leading up to the run have been kind of hectic. Organizing the day of the run is harder than I had thought. Thanks to the help of Mrs.Bauer and the other teachers the process has been a lot better for me. I appreciate everything that they have done to help me. Mrs. Del Curto has also been a huge help for me. She has helped the run a great deal by taking care of the sponsor sheets and organizing them and keeping the money safe. Thank you so much to everybody that has helped me! On the day of the run teachers will stand guard as security at potential dangerous areas. The volunteers will take care of the water stand and the handing out of the tokens to the runners. Thank you to all the teachers that have volunteered to help. Also thank you to the mothers who have decided to volunteer and help with the run. I have learned that time management is a lot harder than I had originally thought. I have learned that will the help of great deal....you can achieve anything. The process has been difficult but organizing and planning and managing the time well will help a great deal and that is what I have learned throughout this process. I hope tomorrow will be a great success. It is nice to see the school come together for a great cause. THANK YOU!

Confirmation of Events

After meeting with Mrs.Bauer she gave me the news that the run will be on Friday, April the 27th from 14:30 - 15:30. This will be at the end of the school day. There is also hopefully going to be a bake sale the day before on Thursday April the 26th in order to prepare for the run the next day and to also raise additional money for the charity. I will hopefully as my class if they could bake something for the bake sale. I myself will bake something. Tomorrow is the last day before the Easter break which means ill be going around to each classroom reminding the kids of the run. I will also hand out slips that the kids can take home as a reminder. We are hopefully going to get some teachers to help supervise on the day. Also if any parents would like to help out it is more than appreciated. Please contact speedy_legs13@msn.com if you wish to help!

Thank you so much!

Another Step Taken

I have announced in front of the school my plans for the run and I have also revealed the location. I sent sponsor sheets home with them that they will keep over the holidays and raise money. I will hopefully get them back on the 23rd of April which is the first day back from holidays. I am so happy I am getting the opportunity to do this! Thank you again to all the people that have helped!

Location Decided

I met with Mrs.Bauer. my CAS coordinator, and Claudia Doron on Monday. I received the arm bands I needed from Claudia in order to hand out to everyone in my school. I really appreciated that. The focus of our discussion was mainly deciding on a place for the run. We looked at different places around Buchs and we have decided that we are going to make the run just outside school grounds on a path near the little bridge. We will hopefully have water and fruit stands available for the runners. We will also have a chip system that will let us keep track of how many rounds each student or teacher runs. Hopefully afterwards there were be some sort of bake sale that can help us raise additional money for River of Hope. Tomorrow I will present at the school assembly. I will be handing out the sponsor sheets and hopefully the wrist bands. I get to initiate the starting of the run tomorrow. I am excited!

Steps To Take Before The Run

I am on my way to completing the final steps towards my run. On Monday I am going to hopefully print out all the number of sheets I need in order to be able to distribute them to my school. I think I will be presenting these sheets on Thursday during the whole school assembly. Also I have to create some kind of system that will allow me and the teachers to be able to keep track of the number of laps each student runs. I will also have to find a perfect location for the run; preferably exactly or close to 1 km. I will also have organize refreshments afterwards for the students who have ran. I am staying organized and managing my time wisely in order to get these steps done. Without the help from some of my teachers and especially Claudia Doron I would not be able to make this run possible. Also without all the help and support from my fellow classmates I would not be able to keep going on the pace that I am going. THANK YOU ALL!

SAL/TAK Display

Today was a good day for the project. A lot of people were generous and kind enough to leave donations for the run. I really appreciate it. All in all I raised a total amount of 240 CHF plus another sponsor who was kind enough to sponsor me 10 CHF per kilometre. I would like to thank Natalie and Ellen for making this possible and helping me organize my stand and for giving me this opportunity. I would also like to thank Mrs.Sutcliffe for helping me prepare all the materials I needed for today. I would like to thank Mrs.Linford, Mr.Beck. Mrs.Warren, Mrs.Sutcliffe, Eliot and Vicky for being there to offer support, I really appreciate it. Thank you for a great day!

TAK Presentation and Progress

Tomorrow ,Wednesday March the 6th, I will be presenting my marathon idea to the local community in Liechtenstein at the TAK. I am looking forward to interacting with a new community and boosting my German skills. I am hoping to learn to build my communication skills. As for my progress: BZB has decided not to run because the school board would not allow the sports teacher to skip parts in the curriculum. It is not the best news but I am going to work with ISR in order to make this a great run and we are still going to run for a great cause. the project may not be as big as I had hoped but just because one school is not participating does not mean I have to hang my head. I am going to keep going on track and organize this run with great detail and raise money for a good cause.

Rough Draft: Poster and Sponsor Sheets

Today I finished rough drafts for both my posters I will be hanging around the area and the sponsor sheets that I will use to hand out to the other school so we can collect and raise money for the charity. I still have a lot of steps ahead of me. I will meet with my CAS coordinator on Monday in order to get feed and make any changes needed to my poster and sponsor sheets.

Rotary Club Speech

Today was a really good day. I achieved another step towards reaching my goal. First I presented my speech in front of the Rotary Club in Buchs. I helped set up before hand and helped out during the lunch. I presented my idea to the club and I think they appreciated my speech. It was good to get up there and boost awareness for the project. After the speech I was approached by one of the members of the club. I got offered to present my project idea to a theatre in Schaan, Liechtenstein. There will be a play going on there at the same time. The woman from the club would like if I presented before the play. I am going to take full advantage of this offer in order to boost awareness for the project even more. I also met with my CAS coordinator Mrs.Bauer in order to get more ideas on how to approach the initiation of my project and get the other school, BZB, involved. I would also like to thank my German helper on the project, Andreas, for helping me present and agreeing to work with me further in the future.

First Meeting

I met with Claudia Doron of the Rive of Hope today. We sat down and we spent time going over information that I am going to be using for my speech to the Rotary Club of Buchs on the 1st of February. I will be informing the Rotary Club about where their donated money is going and what projects they are helping. I also got other information that will help me communicate with other German speaking schools. I also learned about other steps I should be taking towards the project. Today I am starting the design for the sponsor sheets. Also, going back to my speech, I will be presenting at ISR in the student lounge in the afternoon of February the first. Hopefully it will be a successful experience.

Welcome To My Blog

I have recently created this blog in order to boost awareness of the run I am initiating. I will keep all my information posted here and I will update any events or important information. I will also keep track of the steps I take in order to reach my goal. This will be like my journal throughout the whole process of the run.
