Rough Draft: Poster and Sponsor Sheets

Today I finished rough drafts for both my posters I will be hanging around the area and the sponsor sheets that I will use to hand out to the other school so we can collect and raise money for the charity. I still have a lot of steps ahead of me. I will meet with my CAS coordinator on Monday in order to get feed and make any changes needed to my poster and sponsor sheets.

Rotary Club Speech

Today was a really good day. I achieved another step towards reaching my goal. First I presented my speech in front of the Rotary Club in Buchs. I helped set up before hand and helped out during the lunch. I presented my idea to the club and I think they appreciated my speech. It was good to get up there and boost awareness for the project. After the speech I was approached by one of the members of the club. I got offered to present my project idea to a theatre in Schaan, Liechtenstein. There will be a play going on there at the same time. The woman from the club would like if I presented before the play. I am going to take full advantage of this offer in order to boost awareness for the project even more. I also met with my CAS coordinator Mrs.Bauer in order to get more ideas on how to approach the initiation of my project and get the other school, BZB, involved. I would also like to thank my German helper on the project, Andreas, for helping me present and agreeing to work with me further in the future.

Marathon For Hope (A River of Hope)

Every three seconds one child dies in Africa. If treated or taken care of, that child could have lived to see another day. Most privileged people in this world take what they have for granted. They can go to school and get a good education, they can come home and have a meal, they can even go out and play sports. A lot of children in Africa do not have the same opportunities.Growing up having the same privileged opportunities as most kids in Canada I have never fully understood what I have is a blessing. That just to be able to wake up in the morning with a roof over my head, I have it better than most people in the world. As an individual I have never thought I could make a big difference on the world. However; I want to find out how big an impact I can make. So I have started this Marathon for Hope in order to bring schools in my local community together in order to raise money for A River of Hope. A Rive of Hope is a non-profit organization that carries out many projects in Africa in order to help the people who do not have the same opportunities as most people in this world. The project to which the money will be going towards is the Ciperfoot football school in Sanga Mamba, a suburb Kinshasa. The school provides football training to those children who do not have the opportunity to play sports and be active. The school teaches the children of that region how to play the game of football and with it, different skills of teamwork, hard work and dedication. To be able to have the opportunity to change lives in Africa, for me, is a great opportunity that will hopefully help me value more the things that I have. I hope that this project will also help inspire other people to do something to make a difference as well. That no matter what age you are, you can still make an impact on people's lives and hopefully the rest of the world.
